This is 6th street to me. It just doesn't seem to work. Lots of shops but they change frequently and lots of restaurants that change frequently. My favorite place is "Golden Light Cafe" Best Hamburgers in town.

If you want to walk around and look at a few antique shops this is the place for you. Mostly old junk but then I am not much of a shopper.

Like much of Route 66 you'd better read a book and find out just what actually remains of the original route 66. The part we went through was actually very run down and scary. Maybe we were in the wrong location.

We visited this site on Friday, Sunday, and Monday. The nostalgia was great on two of those days - save for many of the businesses not being open on Monday. We enjoyed the Antique Shops and lunching at the Cowboy Gilato. But Sunday was a disaster. Many of the shops were not open on Sunday and that is fine. Most... More

I was in Amarillo on biz and stopped by the Route 66 'hood on a weekday night. Maybe it changes on the weekends but there was little or anything that would make me go back. Most of the businesses - and there weren't a whole lot of them - were closed. I did go into a bar that had a... More

Unless you want get a tattoo, go to a biker bar, or take a tour of closed businesses, I don't get it. This looks like a half-baked project that failed a long time ago. I felt uncomfortable even during daylight in this semi-abandoned area of town.

There are lots of antique shops and cafes to visit. You can always find a place to park and then enjoy walking along the shops.

Loved browsing the antique malls. Got great decorating ideas from the desing shops and had a great old-fashioned cheeseburger and homecut fries at Smokey Joe's Cafe. Also enjoyed a margarita in a Mexican bar.
