At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes. « less

We visited over spring break, so there were a lot of visitors that day. My grandson was studying Texas history in school, so it was a great outing for him. The tour guide gave just the right amount of detail to keep everyone interested but moving on. The capital is beautiful - especially the details in the decor and structure.

Interesting place to visit. Great historical renovations and incorporation into the newer underground sections. Too bad that many of the people elected to serve are not worthy.

It is a great part of Texas history. We did the self tour and took our time. There is staff positioned about and they were very helpful and able to answer all of our questions.

Very good tour of the State Capitol. Liked that there is option of guided tour or on your own with well done self-tour booklet. Grounds also worth touring and there is a booklet for that too. Highly recommend going to the Visitor's Center across the street first to get info. Actually, that building more interesting in some ways with their... More

Was in town for business but took time out to see the capitol. Was very surprised to find it open for the public to go in and look around, even after 5:30 pm on a Saturday! Beautiful protected grounds with lots of history to see, Capitol building is beautifully kept and restored. A Must see while in Austin.

We did the tour of the capitol. They start every 30 minutes 7 days a week. The architecture is interesting, and our tour guide had some fun facts that made care about Texas. Worth it for sure.

We went late at night after 8:00 pm and were thrilled the place was still open to the public. Awe inspiring interior and a wonderful climb up the rotunda with great rooms and stuff to see on the way up. Just a beautiful place.
