Want to see Rommel's boots and breeches? Old WWII tanks and vehicles? Military ordinance and uniforms? That and a lot more exists in this museum on the military post. Easy access, close to downtown Austin, but bring photo ID to be admitted to the National Guard post. No admission fee, but you'll probably feel like making a donation on the... More

Removed WW2 exhibit and placed recent Iraq stuff, etc. Was once better. Lots of tanks outside if this is your thing.

If you like Texas military or military history in general then this is worth a visit. This is a VERY nice display of military vehicles and equipment. It even is updated to current military. Its well worth the time to learn a little more about our state and nations military.

This is a fantastically done museum that is very surprising in it's contents & thorough explanation of war events. The memorabilia is impressive & there's something for everyone. We took the whole family from my wheelchair-bound father-in-law to my 2 & 4 year old girls. We spent 2 hours and blew through. We didn't get to read half of the... More

Recently remodeled and excellent docents. Student dioramas of several battles scenes are world class and the surprise of the museum. If you're interested in Texas Military history this is the place

In the midst of a blazing hot Austin summer (105 - 110 degrees), I took my family reunion group to the Texas Military Forces Museum. It was surprisingly well-done for an all-volunteer museum. For a volunteer effort, the amount of military equipment and the care that has been put into the displays is discernible as soon as you get in.... More

We visited the Texas Military Museum recently after I found them online. The museum is located on the Camp Mabry grounds. It was really cool. They have a lot of tanks on the premises and my husband loved that (he drove tanks in the army) They also had a lot of neat military equipment in the large air-conditioned museum. You... More
