The Barter Theater plays are as good as anything I've seen in NYC. The actors are top notch. The tickets are reasonable and the seating is comfortable. A must on a trip to Abingdon.

Founded in 1933, Barter Theatre offers professional, repertory theatre, 17-19 productions per year, and two unique stages: Barter Main Stage and Barter Stage II. Plays here are always extremely well-done. Stage II is a "Thrust" theater with seating stacked around three sides of the stage --- very intimate but also very jam-packed and not very comfortable.

Barter has a great history and has many of the cast to become famous. The theatre Always has great productions. Abington is a great town for a weekend to enjoy a play and enjoy this historic area. Abington has a wonderful Arts &Crafts festival in the Summer.

Barter Theatre is my favorite entertainment venue in the region. I go to half a dozen performances a year, and they are consistently amazing! The actors are superb, the sets are creative, and the directors bring each story to life expertly. There is also a wide variety of plays and musicals - something for everyone. You simply cannot go wrong...
