This is a wonderful place to walk or job and get away from the noise of the city. Go see wildlife or just stroll among the trees. Lovely.
We come here regularly for a kids nature class. Wonderful sights and opportunity to see wildlife. superior birding! A wildlife photographers oasis. Enjoy the park as much as we do.
I used to bring my kids here all of the time in the past when I was sighted, and just recently stopped by here with my girlfriend for a nice romantic walk since being blinded. First, the main visitor center here is not open all of the time. It's open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during the week I believe. Not... More
We've lived in Fairfax County for 28 years and until last weekend, had never been to Huntley Meadows. But, one of my co-workers has spoken of it quite often so we decided to try it. After a fairly short walk through the woods, you come to a fresh water wetland. (When I was growing up, these were swamps.) The County... More
Huntley Meadows is only a few miles (less than 5) from Washington DC beltway just outside Alexandria VA, but it is difficult to believe that once you are in the park. Wild life, flowers and easy trails all abound. Worth several trips and more than a quick trip.

Already areas that were water last summer... More
It's a fantastic park and the largest I think in Fairfax County. What I never realized was the local importance of the park in a historical context from the Revolutionary Days to the Civil War. The paths are great and the park is clean and accessible for all. Definitely a Fairfax treasure.
I love coming to this park with my children. It provides a nice woodland path that leads to a boardwalk that provides you with a unique view of a vast wetland area. My children like it because you spot frogs, herons, turtles, fish, snakes--an easy way to see animals in the wild. The nature center is also worth a visit.... More
I use to live in this area and Huntley Meadows was the only place for outdoor lovers around there. It has a great boardwalk over marshlands. Can be favorite for bird lovers and photographers. I've been numerous times and never encountered crowds.
