One of the great Brazilian authors. If you like him and know about him, you will love the museum. It is very well displayed and has a nice coffeshop on the lower floor.
I've been a fan since the movie of DOna Flor and here is every memory you could imagine. He used to hang out on the steps in the late 90's telling stories and mixing with the locals and tourists
Do read his stuff -- he was from Bahia and you'll see the building he wrote in.
Each of Amado's books are presented with a synopsis in at least 5 languages, usually quite charmingly stated, and the book covers for each language are as wonderful a representation of book art as can probably be found.
