Nice experience. Some intereting landscape and since I usually am the driver it was nice to stare out the window. Mariana is a bit more contemporary (read dirty & industrial), but the historic section is small and easily matches OP. Its a nice diversion for a half day away from the steep hills of OP.

The train was not running on the day we visted but we called into both stations and could see what a heritage treasure this is. Both steam and diesel traction is used on old rolling stock. All the buildings have been superbly restored and include a working model railway of the line.

But check the timetable before you leave your hotel. The trip is worth the price _ both ways.
