The main thing in this museum is the room with the valuable minerals. Nicely displayed this room alone can easily amuse you for 30 min. There are 6 or 7 exhibition rooms, but the most interesting one is "Mineralogia I", where you see precious stones and minerals. Well organized, its located in the building which I believe was the first engineering school in South America. Once in Ouro Preto, do not miss it!!
