I rode the train over the summer of 2010, winter in Brazil. It was a nice leisurely trip with great views. The route is a busy freight line to the Atlantic coast. The line was to be built by an American engineer, but the Americans judged the line to be too difficult. It was thus an entirely Brazilian affair, something... More

I wish I could repeat the trip from Curitiba to Morretes. It takes more than 3 hrs to get to Morretes and the views are simply unforgetable! It is one of the greatest attractions available for turists in Parana - exept the famous Foz do Iguasu waterfalls!

It was a good trip. I bought the second cheapest ticket so I could have the Porutuguese guide. I kind of wish I had forked out the extra cash the because the guide I had was not all that great. But its definitely worth doing if you have the time in Curitiba.

Over the weekend on a business trip, 2 friends and I took the train ride to Morretes. It was well worth the USD$100+ for the trip with tour guide - I would not recommend taking the trip without a guide if you don't speak Portuguese. We found even the "countryside" portion of the trip to be interesting, but it really... More

The trip to Morriston by the Serra do Mar has beautiful and unforgettable views! The tourist class trains are comfortable and have guides that make the experience even more enjoyable. But it ends there! The town of Morretes has no great attractions except the local craft and the "barreado" (traditional dish cooked with meat and banana) and not worth spending... More

Just did the train today in the Executive class... just over 3hrs and the ride itself is not much to speak of. Per one of the other reviews, we had three waits for the freight train to go by, one of which was 30minutes. To me, seeing the diversity of the rainforest was the exciting. However, there are limited "scenic"... More
