We spent a few hours here, taking in the views and just relaxing (this was our first day in Rio and we were quite tired from an overnight flight). The scenery was gorgeous. We stayed from late afternoon until dark, and took some pretty unbelievable pictures. Someone was having a private reception at the top -- looked very nice. There... more
The is a must! you can see all of rio from the mountain, overall great experiance. I highly recomment Gray Line tours. They pick you up from the hotel have tour guides who speak multiple languages and are friendly. Tip! book directly from Greyline cheaper the expedia. I did also did the Jeep tour, and boat tour, very relaxing! more
Great view!! There is a small nature area on top where you can walk around for 30 minutes or so. We saw some monkeys and enjoyed the view of the beaches from above. We were staying in Rio and just took a cab. Don't schedule a tour or pay to be shuttled via a tour bus here, just grab a... more
We made Sugar Loaf our first port of call on our trip to Rio, and what a wonderfull decision it was. The trip up on the cable car is just wonderful, once at the first station you get to see just how big the rock itself is. The second cable car is white knuckle all the way, but more than... more

My dream was to be up the Sugar Loaf at sunset. Considering it had been a cloudy day, I was certainly not disappointed. The whisps of clouds rolled in and out, at times shrouding the Sugar Loaf as they blew across. Due to the clouds you could not see the actual sun setting, but the sky and cloud colouring said... more
A note to anyone planning to go to the Sugar Loaf: bring cash or Visa debit card because those are the only options for purchasing tickets. And yes, the view is spectacular, especially if you're lucky enough to time your visit so you can see the sunset. more
Ok...Just to start off...This place is by far the most spectacular geographical destination I have ever visited. You have a mixture of mountains, valleys, beaches, heat, fog...It's amazing. The ride up to the Sugar Loaf is exhilirating...You dangle in that glass capsule and feel like you're soaring to the top of the mountain. Once you make it to the top,... more
