I visited the Calete Palace, once the presidential residence of Brazil's chiefs of state, back in December 2002 and found it a fascinating place if you are interested in modern Brazilian history. Its served as the home of the leaders of the republic from around 1900 until they moved to Brasilia in 1960. Its very ornate rooms and fine furnishings... more
