The Santa Cruz Fortress was established by Villegaignon in 1555. He had to improvise a fort to defend the "Antarctica France". The fort was taken by Mem de Sá twelve years later. It should be in your to do list while visiting Niteroi, a beautiful city near Rio de Janeiro.
The place is well looked after by the military and you also have a guided tour during your visit. You will then learn a bit about Brazil's history and culture. Don't forget to take your camera with you. You will see fantastic...
