Did the cooking class on a whim and had a brillant time. Me and my girlfriend found the market in the morning really informative and interesting, toot explained all the different veggies, spices and showed us the local fish (snakehead). Headed back to narys to start class, they were very polite and showed the processes of each dish. We did... More

The only negative we have about this class was that we had arranged the class via email, but unfortunately when we arrived the owner had gone to Bangkok and not told any of his staff to expect us! Confusion over though, a young member of staff immediately stepped up. First up we visited the local market where we were given... More

Nary is a man who is passionate about his craft. This is not an easy, "tourist experience" course, but you get back what you put in. Be prepared for some unsettling sights in the market place as he chooses the main ingredient for the Fish Amok, but hey, this is Cambodia, not Tesco! You will be truly proud when you... More

I had a great time with Toot and his wife Nary during their cooking class. I have joined a few cooking classes in different countries and this wins hands down as the most thorough and interactive. We started with a visit to the market where Toot took the time to explain the details of each item we bought and what... More

Nary’s Cooking School was a real treat. The school is located less than two blocks from the central market and class begins with a visit to the market to shop for fresh ingredients. The shopping experience alone is worth the admission. Nary runs a great class patiently demonstrating and then enabling you to do the actual food preparation. The class... More

My wife and I knew we wanted to take a Khmer cooking class, and decided to take one in Battambang rather than during the following leg of our trip in Siem Reap. Our hotel (Bambu - also great!) had this class listed as well as the one at Smokin' Pot (which we had heard of, but did not attend). Sad... More

We were looking for things to fill our time in battambang and saw the sign for Nary kitchen. For £10, it was really really good. It was only us 2 in the class, which made it nice and personal. he explained all the ingredients and took photos of us with 'Nary' the chef. The food we cooked was really tasty,... More

I attended this cooking school today! Was a great experience with 2 experienced Cambodian cooks. I recommend this to anyone coming to Battambang and who is interested in learning to cook some traditional Khmer recipes!

As with the reviews below, you start off with an informative trip to the market which is full of all the colours and sights one hopes to see. The kitchen is exceptionally clean, everything is spotless and great care is taken. All food is prepared from scratch, unlike other cooking classes we have taken (not in Cambodia) where things like... More
