West Street is a magnet for travellers with some interesting shops and OK eating places.

Very touristy, but you definately feel the excitement as you walk down this street on a Friday night. We had fun bargaining with the shop keepers.

Many options for various low cost items: jewelry, paintings/scrolls, batik, T-shirts, etc. Bargain hard. We went around May Day so was wall-to-wall people. Probably is crowded but not as bad during other times

We came to West Street for most meals and there is plenty to choose from: we ate donuts made in front of us, Italian gelato, pizza, Chinese, the region's beer-fish, Indian and I can't remember what else. Compared to 1995 (my last trip to Yangshuo), I didn't even recognize Xi Jie. Yangshuo is not a small, quaint town anymore! Very touristy with hundreds of vendors lining the street.

loved the funny t-shirts didn't like people grabbing you to buy - that's changed love the Chinese Batik you can buy Good food! Order a chicken from the Chicken Man!

You can't avoid this place if you tried, but it is a nice walking street full of shops, restaurants, and bars. Very busy at times, but nice atmosphere

West street is a fun place to hang out at- as long as you don't mind the touristy attractions and tourist prices. Although saying this, when you get to the end of the street, the prices do tend to drop, so I would advise walking up and down once, pricing what you'd like to buy. The side streets of west... More
