It is cold in Yangshuo in January so this was a great thing to do when outdoor activities are curtailed. We (my 10 year old daughter and I) took the class with a couple who run a cooking school in Holland. The instructor did a great job of balancing the class for professional chefs, a good amateur cook (me) and... More

One of the highlights of our stay in the Yanghsuo-area. The whole class took around 4 hours and the teacher was excellent. Everybody got to cook 5 dishes and we ate it all together afterwards, sharing our travelstories. Great activity, especially on a bad weather day. More

My three daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The market was interesting and little bit scary. If you are not used to seeing Fido (dog) prepared, don't go to that part of the market. Every other part was just fine. The class was informative and really fun. Everything has been cleaned and you each have your own cooking station.... More

Learnt to cook the most amazing authentic Chinese dishes - still cooking them now I'm home! Absolutely loved all the side trips, Made for an exciting week - tofu making, bike rides, markets, boat rides as well as cooking, not to mention the best bit - eating what you've cooked! More

Yangshuo has lots to offer but the Yangshuo Cooking School is a great half-day activity. We were met at our hotel by the owner (an Aussie expat) and walked to the local fruit, vegetable/wet markets, where they buy items for the afternoon/evening's class. The markets were an interesting experience in itself and while the fruit and vegetables are interesting the... More

We did this Cooking school as part of a group tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The facilities were all very good and the teacher was easy to understand and follow. The menu we had suited all tastes and the results of our hard work were delicious. As usual you get a cook book to take with you - ours is... More

Mini bus came to pick us up at The Giggling Tree and took us down into Yangshou for our day's Cookery Course. We met others, from other hotels, gathered into a group and were introduced to our leader/cookery teacher for the day. First of all we were taken around the large (clean and organised) Yangshuo market. Very interesting and often... More

Thanks very much for your great review. I just want to clarify that though I run the cooking school (older Australian woman) all the teachers and staff are Chinese. Thanks! More

Fun and a good introduction to Chinese cooking. The most interesting part was the use of the wok and the Chinese approach to frying. The recipes were basic, the only spice we used was chilli and oyster or soya sauce, and in one dish beer gave some flavour. The staff were excellent and enthusiastic, and the outcome outranked most local... More

We booked the cooking on line with no problem. The cost was 150 rmb each for an evenng of food preparation and good eats. Our chef, Jennifer, picked us up at the hotel and took us to the local market where she showed us what various things were and explained how they could be used. The school itself was on... More

Great activity and one not to miss. They did a great job teaching us and accommodating different menus, which they normally don't do, because we had a vegetarian in the group. We thought the market trip would be a time filler and not that interesting but it turns out we were wrong. It was divided into 2 sections - fruits/veggies/etc... More
