Visited this Monastery as part of our trip to Tibet in May, 2009. We felt that climbing to the Stupa is bit difficult due to high altitude. ( Altitude - 4050 m). The view of the city from the top of the monastery is very beautiful. The famous Dzong Hill ruins is also located very close to the monastery. Thsi... more

The Palkhor Monastery with its Kumbum Stupa was one of the most amazing sights on our trip. We climbed to the top of the stupa, visiting the 108 chapels, among pilgrims who had come to make offerings and prayers. more
