It has character and charm. Very clean with good walking areas. Book excursions direct at the harbour. Follow the costal path to the blue and green lagoon and you can catch the tourist train back.

So many little roads to explore shops not filled with 'tacky' goods and no hassle from restaurants
the buildings here are a history lesson dating back to the 1st century. A wonderful place to visit just spoiled by a few tacky souvenir and t-shirt shops.
Beautiful, well worth a visit, explore the old cobbled streets, eat the deliciuos ice creams and sit in the square and have abeer/coffee.
I've been surprised to see all the stores closed except the souvenirs (well, same things everywhere in all the stores) during the day and even the restaurants for a long "siesta". Otherwise, great cobbled streets, cute houses, feeling of the old city is still there even with too much tourists roaming around
I would strongly suggest a stroll down Decumanus street and in the side streets. Don't forget to look up because the palaces with Venetian facades are surprisingly beautiful. Climb up the Eufraziana church tower. Best visited not in August, when it is overcrowded. Enjoy!
In my continuing quest to visit the significant cities of the Venician Republic I find myself in Parenzo. The city is beautiful!! Small quaint with a strong Istrian flavor. Possible to speak Italian or English everywhere. Beautiful landscaping abounds and the prices are right. Highly recommend a trip to Brijuni (Tito's private island).. Impressive, let's just say not all socialists...

Definitely worth a walk thru the old town of Porec' (or Parenzo). Much to see and do.. Dont waste time or money visiting the Acquarium, but do visit the church.
All Istrian towns have their own charm. From Piran, which i like the most, Poreč and Rovinj are splendid and colorful...using the boat ride to enter the city is unique!!!
Nice place to visit, good atmosphere, nice people and some good historical buildings
