I had a great time hiking around Laguna Cuicocha. the scenery was beautiful. It is a great place to acclimate for climbs on some of the local mountains. The water is ice cold in the lake. I highly recommend this hike. Some trails was worn a couple of feet deep and look like a slot was cut into the ground..amazing.... more

Cuicocha is a crater lake some 10-15 minutes drive outside of the famous leather village of Cotacachi. You can take boats around the lake, but the explanation is given in Spanish - worth the trip regardless. remember that if it is cloudy, it can be cold on the water. You can also do some hikes around, but I haven't so... more
