Just imagine two masive mountains that have a river in between, this river has formed a limestone bridge where on top you get amazing turquoise ponds. and this is Semuc Champey... I recommend visiting Semuc Champey is a wonder of turqouise water, arrange your visit with a local tour operator, that has the knowledge how to get there and the proper transportation to make you visit to Semuc Champey more pleasant. Elsie Yi Pasadena, California more

We drove from Pana to Coban because we had read and heard how beautiful Semuc Champey was - well, we were somewhat disappointed. While the pools are pretty, it is certainly not worth the trip. From Coban it takes almost 2 hours to get to Semuc Champey (very bumpy ride, do not suggest driving yourself unless you have an SUV).... more

Savvy travelers wouldn't dream of missing this full-on adventure of spelunking, climbing the mirador, and viewing one of the world's magical places. Think of basing yourself in Lanquin at the Pousada Hotel instead of the often booked up El Retiro Lodge where the guests and staff can be too cool for school. more
