I absolutely loved the cookery school here and am amazed by some of the criticisms. The introduction by Junie was fascinating, I learned so much about Thai culture as well as food. The leaf parcels was something I'll try again at home. The cooking itself ran smoothly, utensils were whisked away to be cleaned and replaced with clean ones without... more

My boyfriend found this cooking school on the internet, and with good experiences from another cooking school in Chiang Mai we decided to try it. We had to pay a sizeable deposit, but when we finally came there, we were told that our class was moved to the next day due to lack of students. Since we had other plans... more

I attended in April this year and really enjoyed the evening. It's set in a beautiful spot on the beach, and Junie takes real care to impart some really good knowledge and secrets of thai cookery, eg specific ways to prepare herbs and spices, and how to balance sweet and sour. The pace is very laid back and the recipes... more

Initially i was going to do this course by myself but in the end my husband (who isn't a chef by any means) decided to do the course with me. We loved it ! I'm a food fanatic and loved the indepth tutorial on the spices etc.We never lost interest during the 4hr course. The location is amazing, the staff... more

When we visited in March 2009 it was quite quiet, so our two classes were small, 7 and 4 people respectively. Only one person was a "confident" cook, the rest of us were there for the experience...and it was one. Both classes were stress free, largely due to Junie's low key approach. The background session on ingredient identification and preparation... more

The five hour long class was held in a dirty kitchen with no fans to keep the very hot temperature down. The ingredients were covered with flies and the owner - Junie - smoked in the kitchen and let cats and dogs roam around the kitchen. Participants were constantly asked to buy drinks at the bar and buy overpriced souvenirs... more

Although a bit on the expensive side and a disruptive rain storm at the start of the class, we had a great time. We learned about the basic and important bits you need to know when cooking, and eating, Thai. For instance the importance of making your own curry paste - there's an enourmous difference - and the "sweet, sour... more

My first preference for a cooking class on Koh Lanta was Thai Cooking School, but their class times were not very good. So we settled on the touristier Time For Lime. The owner/instructor was very knowledgeable and gave a great background of Thai ingredients and the culture of food in Thailand. The kitchen was well staffed and though our class... more

My husband and I went to Ko Lanta specifically for the Time for Lime cooking school, and we were not disappointed. The first hour of the class was a discussion about the unique ingredients of Thai cooking. Junie, the instructor/owner, was very knowledgeable and patient, taking the time not only to answer questions, but to provide us with ideas about... more

First problem was me signing up and seemed to be a bother to the owner interupting her cigarette 2nd) Once the class started we had to purchase a drink from the bar 3rd) Lot of selling additional things from the kitchen, etc as suvineers For the expensive price of this class go to an authentic Thai run school. more
