Si Satchanalai Historical Park , in Sukhothai province , situated at the bank of Yom river , about 70 kilometer away from the Sukhothai Historical Park. There are more than 100 historical places , but all were left untouched and not in good condition , look like a ruin, many of them made of Laterit . Si Satchanalai and Sukhothai... More

We visited Si Satchanalai from Sukhothai. We took a 9am bus there from Sukhothai and were dropped near a sign for Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat. We then hired bikes to take us the 2kms to the historical park itself. The park was wonderful. It is Unesco-protected and completely unspoilt. The ruins of the many wats are surrounded by woodland;... More

It's situated about 60 km north from New Sukhothai (75 km from Old Sukhothai Historical Park). There is a direct bus connection from Sukhothai Bus Terminal, it takes about 1 hr 45 mins to get there and costs about 50 BTH return ticket. The bus stops directly opposite the entrance to Si Satchanalai Historical Park. You can walk through the... More

While Sukhothai is much richer with many ruins, this smaller site is a must-see. Instead of well-groomed gardens and a touristy feeling, the wats here stand in the middle of the jungle, with zillions of birds around and a very unique atmosphere. There are only 4-5 wats worth visiting here, but they are mostly large and more impressive than those... More

We would beg to differ with the enthusiastic reviews of others. The hour bus ride is fine. Luckily our tuk tuk driver caught up with the early bus which left the station before the estimated time of 6:40 AM. We arrived at the park about an hour later, rented horrible bikes, drove across the swinging bridge to reach both historic... More

If you are planning to stay for a few days in the Sukhothai area, I would recommend visiting this place. It is well worth the visit. We were travelling by car which makes this an easy and worthy stop. Check out some of the neighbouring villages and wats to the east as well. We'd been told by some Thai friends... More

Si Satchanalai is about an hour or so from Sukhothai and at least the day we went in mid-January virtually deserted. Some of the wats sit on hilltops, which makes for lovely views and walks through the forest. If you make it to Sukhothai, it's definitely worth completing the trip with an afternoon at Si Satchanalai. Because of the forests... More
