Bring headlamps for easier walking. The start is terribly early and it is cold. But going up means getting hot. On top the wind will chill you so bring the right clothing. You must apparently only go with guides because of people falling down crevisses in foggy conditions. Anyway, it is worth the trouble if you can see down on... More

If you are physically fit this is something that you should attempt. The climb has two phases where it pushes you to the extreme and you feel like quitting. But when you get to the top it is worth every sinew which you strained. We took a guide and while we did read about people who had climbed without one... More

its a beautiful sight & place only destroyed my money hungry guide organisation. Was walking up track to festival at base of Mt Batur when physically stopped by 4 local guides on scooters demanding we go no further without guide. We told them going to festival & not climbing, but they continued to demand we pay & then one of... More

How did we get there? We were staying at Ubud town. The hotel helped us arrange the tour. It cost Rp500k per person. (a little bit on the expensive side I think) I think you could find your way there at a lower price and there are lots of guides waiting there as well. I'm not sure if it is... More

We were picked up at 2am from Nusa Dua and arrived at the starting point at around 3-30am. My teenage daughter and me were lucky to have a lady guide, Wayan assigned to us. We headed straight for the toilets as there are no toilets at the peak. We came prepared with headlamps, trekking shoes and a backpack with some... More

AwesoMe experience. Loved every second of it. Bali Eco cycle guide was fab. I am of average to good fitness level and found some parts exhausting. But amazing to get to the top. Do it esp if weather is kind. Amazing !!!!

Our driver picked us up at 2am at our hotel and drove for about 2hours to the foot of the mountain. Started the trek at about 430am. Don't think you need a jacket (which can be rented for 50k). It was windy but not chilly ( felt like 25-28 degrees celcius). We stopped for about 5 breaks (2-5mins each) to... More

Even in cloudy weather, the views are outstanding. Its only about an hour hike and it is a bit tricky in the middle of the night. Make sure to sleep enough and bring water and warm clothing for the top (it does get very cold in the early morning). The guides are great but not exactly necessary in the daytime-... More
