I paid a visit at this historic site around last February, and was delighted to see this beautiful house. Like others, I had no prior knowledge of this place or who Agnes Keith was, but I just went for a visit since it is listed as one of Sandakan Trail areas. It was certainly very informative, and managed to incite... More

Sandakans famous resident's life nicely brought to life again in this sympathetically decorated museum. A` lovely house on top of the hill overlooking Sandakan. From the exhibits you can tell that this was a cosmopolitan family and some of the decor would not look out of place in homes today (not that it crossed my mind to remove any of... More

Fab piece of living history - who would have thought the good life existing in Sabah - beautifully restored house with great pictures showing how they lived it up in the 30s and 40s in Sandakan - shame the same is not there now!

This is a lovely thing to do in Sandakan along with the English Tea House next door and the War memorial. Would recommend.

but some of the 100 or so steps allong the Heritage Trail are washed out so be careful. We had a couple of hours to kill when we got back from Katabangan so thought we'd explore - climbing up was good exercise after sitting in boats for a few days, but the house itself was tiny & a bit disappointing... The house is NOT the Tea House -- they are two different buildings. Entrance is 15MR. I hadn't heard of Agnes Keith or her books, but I loved her house! It's a beautiful example of (rebuilt) pre-WWII colonial housing. Unfortunately, the video wasn't running when I was there. Interesting enough that I'll read her books...too bad they aren't available for... More

I hadn't heard of Agnes Keith before we went here as part of a package tour. Her story is interesting and the visit did make me want to read her books, but in general it is just a house.

The view from the restaurant is great. The cakes and drinks were amazing. The home was good to look at.
