We did the trek ourselves, which is doable if you are a bit experienced and take care of the altitude. The mountain pass is at 4750 meters high, but actually this is the highest point. If you come from Cashapampa then there´s a gradual ascent, and to the pass it´s a ascent of a steep 500 meters. Comming from Vaqueria,... More

I spent about a week in Huaraz and did a few day-trips. Especially recommended is a visit to one of the beautiful glaciers, there are day-trips for the Pastoruri for example, which certainly is one of the highlights, others are reachable by doing more extensive treks ... and of course the lagunas, oh the lagunas.

Right if you're staying anywhere Huaraz in Péru you need to do the one day hiking to Lake 69. The landscape is amazing and the lake is great ! How to do it. Take a private transport to get there because it's not much expensive than taking public buses. We got the return for 50 soles. You get picked up... More

We had a great time on the trek. The scenery is beautiful and the trek amazing. The only down fall was our tour operator "Genesa" which ripped us off and Max who was so friendly and spoke German with us didn't hold most of his promises. (over charged us, we didn't get the private transport us, the double of the... More

The colours of the lakes (from the glaciers) and the orange-barked tree are stunning, take your camera. You can wander at will, plus they have a nature path with information about the flora and fauna. If you want to trek you have to go with a trekking company and pay extra at the Park gates.

We went to the Huascaran National Park and saw some breathtaking scenery. And yes people, we took a hell of a lot of pictures!! We walked around Lake Chinancocha which is at 3,800 metres high. We left the National Park and had a delightful meal consisting of potatoes and guinea pig! It was literally shaved, cut in half and cooked!... More

Bring a camera and 3 memory cards, because you will probably fill them all up. Hikes for all ranges of abilities, just make sure to plan for weather and take plenty of water!

I did the Santa Cruz trek in the Parque Nacional Huascaran and was subject to some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen in my life. The cordillera blanca is an awe-inspiring mountain range. The Santa Cruz trek can be done in 3 to 4 days and is easy going enough for most people to cope with. There... More
