I agree with the previous reviews that the show takes place in a very simple hall, but I really enjoyed it. Our guide bought the tickets early and we reserved good places for the show and we spent our time walking on the banks of the lake. The ticket costs 500 rupies and they give you the program of the... This is probably one of the worst "cultural shows" I have ever seen. Held in what I think may have been a local community hall just on the outskirts of Kandy. The drummers were terrible and seemed totally disinterested in what they were doing. The drumming itself is completely tuneless and just noise. The dancers were a little better but... More

First impressions is that you are in a village hall and going to be a bit disappointing- we were wrong. it was more acrobatic than dance so go. We were sat at the back so didn't have the best view- think seats at front are reserved for tour groups but when they don't show you can move in. Think it... More

Very nice cultural trip. However, be prepared to shut down the beggers. They are everywhere. They wait outside, they try to sell cheap stuff inside, even the dancers were asking for tips. One definite downside to Sri Lanka - all the begging.

It is breath taking to see these fabulous dancers display there culture. The costume and rythm is wonderful and the firewalks is something that need to be seen to be believed.

We visited as part of an organised package. I cannot recall the name of this lakeside theatre in Kandy, but it was clearly where most of the tourists were brought. According to the program provided, there was a series of 6 or 8 dances depicting different incidents from Sri Lankan folklore etc. The best part was that they were mercifully... More

Dance performance and fire show are quite interesting. It just happened that I went twice to see it. Shows were a little different, though both times I wasn't sorry for the 5$ I've paid for the entrance fee:-) The show isn't very long, so you won't get bored or tired. Please notice that there is a small intermission between the... More
