Sri Lanka is a little country but it an unexpectedly wide range of ancient monuments, some of them amongst the best in the Hindu-Buddhist world. Apart from its two marvellous ancient capitals, it also boasts the sumptuous rock fortress of Sigiriya, which sits high on an outcrop above the surrounding plains. Boasting some erotic art in the rock shelters, some... More

Sigiriya is One of the best site in Sri lanka, This is an awesome place, so much history here.Views of the jungle when standing atop a very interesting course and there is a fresco of the world-famous beauty, rugged mountains to climb after the palace is the best that is made to a steep rocky mountain.

Sri Lanka is an extremely hot country - you will be soaking wet from sweat 99% of the time BUT don't let that deter you from visiting one of the most incredible places in the country, Sigiriya. You won't need a guide or a "pusher" (young SL men offer to push and pull you up the mountain/rock), just take your... More

I was in Srilanka for Paramotor training. The training field is close to Dambulla (Sigiriya). In the day time we can't train because is too windy and too hot then we have some time to do some thing nice. Than our friends drive us to Sigiriya and when i was there i just say " WOW " that is high... More

After reading previous reviews I wasn't convinced I could make the climb but I did and if I can do it the majority of others can! I'm not at all fit but by visiting as soon as the site opened at 7am, taking our time with rests between flights of steps and drinking lots of water we made it -... More

The guides tend to be in a hurry - more people, more money (remember they only get paid if they have punters, so don't be mean). But the site is awesome.

This really is one of the wonderful things to see in the world. Minor quibbles about pushy "guides" and initial entry cost aside, the view from the top is outstanding, and the history of the "fortress" is very evocative.

The entry ticket for foreign tourists seems to be daylight robbery -- but c'est la vie. And as with any government org, morose employees. Keep in mind that there are unlicensed, uninvited "helpers" lurking around who will "help" you for some monetary considerations, be your guide etc -- 100% fraud. They may be very aggressive. Gotta push back heavily.

Sigiriya is a large stone and ancient rock fortress in Matale, Sri Lanka. The climb to the top is steep but very worth the effort. You will be rewarded by 360 degree views that are unsurpassed. It is interesting to walk around the palace ruins at the top. The ancient frescoes and the gardens are amazing. This is a popular... More
