The islands enjoy a steady temperature of between 80 and 93 degrees (27 C – 33 C) all year round, with adequate rainfall to keep them lush and humid. Over the years we have created a magnificent garden with large collections of heleconias, gingers, palms, flowering trees, fruit trees, spices and ornamentals. New plants are constantly being added to the property. « less

Just outside of Bocas town is this hidden gem. Lin and her husband Dave have created a beautiful, large tropical garden and a great facility for weddings and the like. They sell their tropical flower arrangements to the hotels and restaurants in the area. You can take a guided tour of the gardens and see the immense collection of tropical... more

We visited this beautiful garden on our last day in Bocas. We were the only visitors at the time and Lin went out of her way to show us her wonderfull garden. We learned a lot about tropical plantlife from her and even saw some howler monkeys along the way. We had a very pleasant morning. more

What a wonderful way to see, hear, and learn more about the plants and animals of the Bocas area! Stunning flowers, beautiful views, cooling, refreshing tea at the end of our tour (thanks Lin!). If you like plants at all and are interested in what is surrounding you in the bocas area, the best thing you can do is visit... more

We set up a garden tour with Lin Gillingham, [--], and she shared her lovely garden with our group. Taking us on a hike through her tropical paradise, along paths as they wind though the landscape over looking both the bay and views of the Caribbean sea. We saw a troup of Howler monkeys as they moved along in the... more

My visit to Finca Los Monos added to the pleasure of Bocas del Toro. We rode out to the gardens by bike being only a short distance from Bocas Town. I brought my camera expecting to take a few pictures and ended up taking over a hundred. For our small group Lin, the owner, asked about what brought us to... more

A tour of the recently-opened botanical garden just outside Bocas town is an ABSOLUTE MUST! We've been on nature tours and in botanical gardens all over the Caribbean and Panama, and this is the best: far better, in fact, than the much-touted Smithsonian tour of Coronado Island in the Gatun Lake. Lin Gillingham, who with her husband founded the garden,... more

This was a real treat - a hidden gem! I travelled to Panama in January this year with my boyfriend, and we visited Boquete, on the mainland, and also the island of Bocas Whilst in Bocas I heard that there was a botanical garden close by and so decided to pay a visit. Being a keen photographer I was eager... more

I visited Dave and Lynn at Finca Los Monos together with my girlfriend about a month ago during a Christmas visit to Panama. After traveling the world with backpacks for 16 years this NZ-UK couple decided to settle down on Bocas. On their estate, a few minutes taxi-ride (ask for "Casa Banana" if the driver doesn't know the name "Finca... more

I have known the owners of Finca Los Monos for many years. However, having just revisited after 3 years, I was amazed at how much they have achieved in such a relatively short period. The property now benefits from a cabana cabin from where the tour starts and ends (with refreshments, ask for the lemongrass tea!), and now has a... more
