Last month April'2012, i was in Darjeeling after 10 yrs. It was my 2nd visit. Unfortunately darjeeling lost her beauty. Specially the Train & Train station both. Even i got to know the train has shorten its length of journey.

This is a UNESCO World Heritage train which runs from Darjeeling to Ghoom ("joy ride") - it takes about 1 hr one way with a 15 minute stop at Batasia Loop and a 30 minute stop at Ghoom.

Take a ride on this from Darjeeling to Ghoom. Ghoom is the highest altitue station in India. Ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom and back takes about 2.5 hours. In between the journey you stop at the loop which is a great place for photography. The sound of the steam engine is soothing to the ears.
good for a short trip to the monastery. kids will like it. bit pricey as now targeting tourist and not locals.
The famous 'Toy Train' will take you for a wonderful ride between the Tea Gardens, Clouds and chilling memories!

Booked our tickets in advance, the conductor in our carriage incouraged us to hang out of the windows to get some great camera shots. Would...
