The garden as innumerable species of plants and is a botanics delight. Maintenance is very poor and people leave behing litter from their picnics. The litter is strewn all around allong with dried leaves and dirt. One has to be careful of pickpockets.

This is one place which keeps us calling & we are frequently visit this place for no reason at all. Just walking inside, breathing fresh moist air which comes from the south over the mighty Ganga, purifying the soul and rejuvenating the body, mind becomes creative again and we feel at home. The Great Tree itself is a symbolic India... More

This is an amazing place, no mistake. The space and greenness are a treasure for the city; however the neglect of the park's infrastructure the virtual lack of ANY botanic labels for the majority of specimens make it a joke. It is a botanical educators nightmare, a plant anarchists dream park. 90% of the visitors were lovers taking advantage of... More

Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden sounds important, but being honest only The Great Banyan Tree is worth visiting. All garden is very spacious, but much neglected. Its glory is far behind unfortunately. It may look completely different in spring, but at the time I was there it was just boring. The Great Banyan Tree is only one attraction... More

Great Botanic surroundings will bring peace and pleasant mood inside. The Great Banyan Tree which has seen many wars, battle, lies in there for welcoming us. So many species of Flora & Fauna which really not visible these days..... Recommended..

Has the world's biggest tree! And a neat atmosphere too. I only spent about a half hour, but it's probably worth spending more time here. It's rather jungley.

Best thing in Kolkata really. The Kali temple was ruined by the aggressive hustlers. The Victoria Memorial was good but tatty. The gardens were peaceful, interesting, and very well looked after. The banyan tree is obviously the most famous thing, but there were some amazing trees, flowers and wildlife too.

Yes, may be in India, you will find more place neat and tider than Kolkata. But here is a place of peace, heritage, and rich culture that India is famous of. The only metropolitan city in India which is the safest. Not to mention our Capital Delhi the most unsafe place to visit and stay. Always a threat of life... More
