The path down is well maintained. It is more than 400 steps down. The view of the 70m waterfall from the bottom is beautiful and memorizing. Swimming is allowed. The pool of the waterfall is surrounded by slippery and somewhat sharp rocks. Wear the water sandals. The way back is steep; you have to clime the same 400+ steps but... More

the travel in is relatively short, just a lot of stairs! I just don't know if I liked paying 10$ for it but overall it was beautiful!

This is the waterfall you imagine when you see commercials for Latin America travel. Don't miss the opportunity to get in the pool and swim around, the current from the flowing water is a testament to the power of this wonder of nature.

Was amazing. The walk back up was pretty strenuous. I was glad we were in relatively good shape.

We had an amazing time seeing this waterfall but it is not complete unless you go into the cool water. This will refresh you for your walk up. Yes it is worth it just pace yourself. Be careful rocks are slippery and to get in you have to sorta jump over some rocks on the floor to the pebble ground... More

This is definitely a great adventure. Go early and there will be less people. We went at about 8:30am in the morning. Barely anyone was there. The hike down was easy, a little slippery (because it was wet that day) so make sure you be careful. It doesn't take you long to get down there. The waterfall is beautiful and... More

Definitely the biggest highlight for me in La Fortuna, However, when the guy at the desk tells you it's a 5KM walk, DON'T assume it'll take you 40 mins and be easy. It's easy to find the way, but 5KM up steep hills in the full sun is just brutal. The cool waterfall is a great reward for the hike... More

Take lots of water and something to eat. The walk down is easy, but the walk up leaves you sore the next morning.

Beautiful view of the waterfall, but the hike is quite strenuous.

You will see "the ideal waterfall" from the Costa Rica pictures! go and swim in the pool under the waterfall and don't forget to go just past the waterfall to the left and swim in the calm water with the fish. Just beautiful.
