Note: We've never been caving like this before, so this review is written from a first-timer's POV. AMAZING. I cannot say enough about how cool this trip was for us. It was arranged through our hotel, which booked with Adventure Travel (IIRC). Since it was booked just the day before, we ended up being the only two on the trip,... More

We booked this trip while in Costa Rica because I had heard great reviews on trip advisor. Definitely worth it! Because we booked it last second, it was just myself and my boyfriend. Maybe because it was just us two it seemed like this is more for active, athletic people. A lot of climbing on wet surfaces, and we did... More

The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour is in a dark, unlit case, unlike of the other tours we have been on. You have to climb over and under barriers and through some water, which was fine with us. The caverns were very impressive.

We really enjoyed seeing the caves. Walking through the river was great and the bats were plentiful. My daughters have really enjoyed telling their friends they saw real live vampire bats. Beware that there are some very tight spaces and you will get wet, but you can avoid the tight spaces if you want. My seven year skipped the "birth... More

If you haven't been in a cave and can't wait to see one, this will be a fun excursion for you - stalactites, stalagmites, wading through the waters. If you've ever seen other caves, this one will seem small and a little cramped in comparison with way more bat poop. Many small corridors requiring you to walk in a crouch... More

We booked this trip through "Anywhere Costa Rica" in La Fortuna, they are an excellent, well run company, well worth looking up. Edgar our guide picked us up at our hotel and we drove the 40 or so mins out to the caves, on the way he was a wealth of information and answered all our many questions with great... More

The venado caves were definitely one of the highlights of our trip. It took some convincing to get my fiance to go because we have caves near where we live, but I'm so glad he finally agreed because it was such a great experience - and nothing like our lit up, boat tour type caves near where we live! The... More

This tour was one of our favorite activities from our CR vacation. Venado Cave is by far the most interesting and amazing cave tour that I have every experienced. The cave is natural-no lights/electricity, no hand rails. Expect to wiggle through some narrow tunnels, climb cave walls, swim in underground rivers, and see some amazing cave dwelling creatures (bats, spiders,... More
