My husband and I thought it was a nice walk, but it was overpriced at $24 per person for a self-guided tour. We also noticed that you can get cheaper guided tours at other Arenal area private reserves. We spent two hours on the trail and saw a blue jean frog, Jacamars, and other common area birds. The highlight was... More

Arenal Hanging Bridges is about a half hour drive from the bustling town of La Fortuna. It is located on the far west side of Arenal Volcano near the Lake Arenal Dam. Because we were guests at the Lost Iguana Resort & Spa, we received a discounted rate and saved about 25% on the park entrance fee. Better yet, since... More

Loved the walk on the bridges. We got to see, frogs, lizards, monkeys, sloths, snakes and more. Our tour guide was very informative and during our walk we saw several different species. Would definitely recommend going on this tour.

Our CARAVAN bus tour took us to AHB, and provided onsite local guides. With the addition of the local guides the walk / hike became interesting, no way I would recommend you just pay the entrance and think of walking around on your own. Also, take the shortcut tour, you will only miss one or two bridges and not a... More

We had a really special trip along the hanging bridges. You really must go with a guide though or you'll miss everything. My husband and I with our two girls aged 8 and 10 where taken around by Oscar. He was very funny and really informative. It took about two and a half hours. Oscar borrowed my camera and took... More

The road up to the Hanging Bridges is very well maintained and offers great views in its own right. We did the bridges without a guide, which was fine, although the diversity in the park is stunning. Take your time walking through and paying attention to the trees and flowers. We saw hummingbirds, toucans, iguanas, leaf-cutter ants, a wasp eating... More

If you're not looking for too much phisical challenge (see my comment about the Cerro Chato) then the Hanging bridges are a great way to explore nature around the Arenal Volcano. Make sure to hire one of the guides and profit of a maximum of information about tropical forests. Besides this they know where to look to show you a... More

This was a great trip! We started by eating at the cafe, and order the chicken and rice, it was tasty. The bridge tour was good, we went alone, without a guide. The scenery was breath taking and we saw many birds and lizards. Take the extra hike down to the waterfall, it was very pretty. Overall, a great mini... More

We hiked Hanging Bridges without a guide and the experience convinced us that, when we bring guests, we will hire a guide. Although we are fairly well acquainted with local flora, we were stunned at the variety in the preserve. We also had not expected to be in the canopy where the varieties of species are so different. Our experience... More
