We visited in April 2012. It was a bargain at $12. Got to see animals up close and living in a clean facility with the hope of future release into the wild. Patricia does a great job. I would highly recommend it. We got close-up views of a 4 month old 3-toed sloth, howler monkey, kinkajou and many other species...

We took the guided tour with Patricia, who runs the sanctuary. I HIGHLY recommend doing that rather than going on your own. She took us around (there was just the two of us) for I think just over two hours. She took some of the animals out so we could see and touch them. When we went, there was a...

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and got an opportunity to get up close and personal with monkeys and sloths (so cute). Wonderful thing they are doing to help animals get well and reintroducing them into the wild. Got to see also all kinds of reptiles (chose not to get too up close and personal). Incredible pond for regenerating frog species...

What they are doing for the animals is remarkable.
The set up here is fantastic and the staff are passionate about the work that they do. Be sure to bring your camera, water and bug spray.
...place to see local wildlife being very well cared for as well as local native plants. A relaxing way to spend a few hours in the Cahuita area.
Tree of Life is a far walk from the center of town - I suggest going by bike. That being said, it was a really nice little rescue center, with adorable monkeys playing on "monkey island" and interesting plants.

This small center does well showing native animals it has rescued. It also has an extensive garden with many different trees and flowers all well marked
It was nice to see animals up close more than you would see in the wild. The butterfly garden was about 98% blue morphos. Botanical garden was just o.k. All in all not worth $12 admission fee. But, I guess one could consider it a donation for wildlife rescue project.
