We wanted to give it a try to this tour and were pleased with what we learned. It was so much fun to see what the spices look like rather than their powder form in the kitchen. And these organic spices smell and taste so much better than the supermarket products. Anyone who enjoys organic farming, herbs, healthy eating and... more

We love food! And this tour was an amazing look at how the spices we use everyday are grown and made! We got to try every spice they grow, straight from the plant as well as taste these spices in baked goods at a food tasting at the end of the tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was... more

When we drove up, the vanilla drying on the lawn smelled amazing. We really enjoyed the tour of how vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, allspice, cocoa, ginger and turmeric are grown. It's a shame TripAdvisor doesn't have this tour listed under Quepos activities. The tastings at the end of the tour were a real treat. more

We loved this tour, a very informative and interesting tour of how vanilla and lots of other spices are grown and harvested. FYI WEAR BUG SPRAY. This is the only place I got bug bites in Costa Rica. They furnish umbrellas in case of rain, so go no matter the weather! Desserts they serve are THE BEST I had in... more

This was one of my favorite stops during a very busy trip to Costa Rica last year. Between learning about how various spices grow, their history in the region, and the fact that they grow citronella plants rather than use pesticide makes the learning experience absolutely wonderful. And they've got much more than just vanilla, with cinnamon, allspice, black and... more

Villa Vanilla was a great place to visit. It is situated in a beautiful location near the green mountains of Pacific-side Costa Rica. The visit consisted of an explanation of the various spices (vanilla, peppercorns, cinnamon, etc.) grown or processed on the premises, followed by a guided walk through the plantation where we saw, touched, smelled and tasted a variety... more

My husband and I decided to do something "educational" while the rest of our group went zip lining. I had read about Villa Vanilla on TripAdvisor and decided to book at tour. We were not disappointed. Gizelle (sp?) was an excellent guide and we had a great time learning about vanilla,, cinnamon, allspice, chocolate, etc. If you love food or... more

I plan things for our trips and my husband never knows what we're doing and wasn't sure about this one that we took in May. We were both very pleasantly surprised about how much we learned and how peaceful it was on the farm. Gisel , our guide ,spoke excellent English and was very patient with questions! Everything we tasted... more

The description of this tour was enticing..and the tour itself awesome ! Our guide Giselle was friendly, knowledgable and able to answer every question we asked , and then some! It was fascinating to see and learn about the spices and flavors growing in Costa Rica. We were able to meet the owner and see the dream he was able... more

My husband and I toured Villa Vanilla in May, 2009. Our guide Chelsea, was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. There is so much to learn about the different spices and the way they can be used in a variety of cooking. Before the tour is over you get a chance to taste a lot of the different spices in some... more
