I went to a classical guitar concert, the acustic was quite well, but the building was worth the visit.
In our first trip to Costa Rica, my family and I spent one night first at SJ. SJ Downtown is not an attractive city to tour around, but there is the "teatro nacional" an architectural gem in the heart of San Jose, it is a must stop tour when you are at San Jose.
I liked the red roof which is beautifully designed.
We were fortunate to be visiting the National Theater at the time of a performance of a very good storyteller (all in Spanish, of course). The classic building is a must-see attraction in San Jose. Don't miss it and be sure to read up on its history before you go.
The National Theater is far superior to anything I have ever seen in the states. Only in Europe would anything come close. Remarkable!
Have a coffee in the cafe and peek into the auditorium to save taking the tour. Good espresso too.
Ok, so it's not why most people come to Costa Rica, but the symphony is amazing. We got lucky and got $8 tickets the night before our flight home and .... wow. Costa Rica's orchestra is one of the best I've heard (and I have heard many). This is so worth it!
Like everything in Costa Rica you have to pay to get in, I think it should be free.
love the surroundings, love the coffee, love the cake, not keen on Costa Rica prices
