Looked like a nice attraction from San Jose. Took us 90mins to get there from Alajuela driving through winding roads and unnamed forking roads. Getting there was easy as there are signs to the Volcano. Coming back, we had to stop and ask for directions twice since there are not many signs saying San Jose. The hike to the crater... more

Do not miss this. It's close to San Jose so perfect for those not having the time to see Arenal. This volcano is a big crater with no lava - although active. We visited Volcan Poas July 2008. We were staying at Best Western Irazu in San Jose and had a rental car. It was a nice day-trip, driving to Poas, seeing the crater, walking through some jungle paths, seeing a lot of birds and taking a LOT of pictures. We were lucky to have good enough views even though it was... more

We rode up winding roads through the mountain, beautiful views. There were coffee and pineapple fields. We were one of the first buses to park. You have to walk a ways... more

I visited Poas Volcano in April 2006 and really enjoyed it. It was a little bit breezy up on the volcano, but if you wear warmer clothes, not a problem at all! It is a fun walk and there are some neat educatinal things in the little park station. There are two different things to see, the actual volcano (with... more

Parco facilmente raggiungibile e ricco di sentieri ben tenuti. Le lagune all'interno dei crateri sono bellissime. Consiglio vivamente di andare... more
