We were part of a tour staying 2 nights on Mangaia to catch the total eclipse of the sun on July 11th (set up by travelquest.com). We were overwhelmed by the hospitality of the islanders and highly recommend a visit. Be forewarned, however, this is NOT a tourist destination site (though it should be), so the amenities are not there....
