My wife and I hiked up this trail while visiting Juneau on a cruise with NCL. It was not an easy hike and took us a couple of hours to get to the top, but it was well worth the sweat! This is a great way to see the rainforst of Southeast Alaska and burn off some of that buffet... More

This isn't really a negative review, but may sound like it at first... I see a lot of people reviewing this trail and saying it's great. I'm pretty sure they're young or in very good condition and have good shoes to wear and plenty of time and maybe even a gps in case something goes wrong. Wonderful hike if you... More

I highly recommend hiking up the trail, for an hour of good healthy exercise through a local rainforest, breaking out in the alpine tundra about where the tram terminal sits. Then take the short nature loop above the tram, up to Father John's cross, where the views and alpine flowers are gorgeous. Take the tram back down for only $5... More

This trail was pretty tough for me, but it was worth the effort. We decided not to fight the crowd at the Tram because the day we were there, there were FIVE big cruise ships in Juneau. Five, 5 , can you believe it? Looked like ants crawling all over the town. So we found this trail and truly enjoyed... More

It's not because I'm a skinflint, though I do enjoy cutting costs and the tram ride up seemed a bit pricey. Still, our decision to hike the 2.5 mile Mount Roberts Trail from Basin Road was born primarily of a desire to get some much-needed exercise after traveling to Juneau by ferry (which was a great choice, by the way).... We hiked up instead of paying almost $30 each for the tram. Trail was a bit muddy, would not recommend without hiking boots. Took about 1.5 hours to top and we are in pretty good shap. Got to top had a beer and with the receipt we took the tram down. Worth the view and exercise after all the eating... More

Juneau was a port of call during our mid-September Alaskan cruise on Princess. The weather was overcast, misty and a little cool, but that did not hamper our visit to one of the most beautiful state capitols in the United States. My husband and I rode the tram to the top of Mt Roberts where a spectacular vista awaited. The... More

I made the mistake of giving this trail a try alone on a very foggy and lightly raining mid-April afternoon without having any ice cleats. Starting at 6th street in Juno, the first 50 yards or so of the trail would have been fine if not for several badly washed out sections, though this was a minor inconvenience and the... More

I took the tram, halfway. Beautiful views from there! It allowed us to get to the top of Mt Roberts before dark and see the breathtaking views of the valley below!

Great day hike. Don't take the tram up though, you miss the rain forest and a very pretty part of the hike. We started in town with temps in the 50's and made the top in 3-4 hours. At the top it was below freezing, we were in the clouds and the wind was screaming. It was almost like climbing... More
