We recently visited Juneau on a cruise. The views are great, you can see a bald eagle in captivity up close which is pretty cool, and the interactive center is fairly interresting. The gift shop is very similar to all other gift shops in the area, and the trails were still snowed in while we were there the first part... more
just come back could not walk any trails because of heavy snow on them, still great views and nice staff in the resterant and shops. more
After a very disappointing experience at another Juneau attraction my wife and I decided to take the Mt. Roberts Tram and do the hike around the summit. Even though it was raining we enjoy the views. The hike around the sumit was good and the first nation exhibits and movie were interesting. In the visitor center we go into the... more
Is the tram expensive? Oh yes. If you go wait for a clear day. We thought a hike would be fun. It was a giggle for my adventurous teen who watched his parents struggle for much of the 1.5 hr. incline without water or snacks. Our highlights were meeting fellow hikers, who would universally comment "Are we there yet? not... more
Surprisingly, we were really glad we chose to do the tram. It was a beautiful view from up there. We stopped in the restaurant at the top for a beverage and were surprised to find that they had one of Alaskan Brewing Co's harder to find rough draft beers. Then we took one of the shorter trails up top and... more
Call it a tourist attraction. Call it too expensive. But, this is one thing I would not want to have come back from Juneau Alaska saying that I had not done. Great views, wonderful little theatre, nice nature center and gift shop, really cool hiking trails with fantastic greenery and views, and good food in the Timberline Bar & Grill.... more
This was awesome. I went first week in June/08. There was still snow on the ground and part of the mountain was blocked off. But you could still walk up part (at your own risk) of it, enough to see the city below. Tennis shoes not a great idea in snow. :-( Costs for the tram is expensive, but worth... more
My husband and I were on a cruise to Alaska at the end of May 2007. We thought the tramway was a bit expensive but the views were worth it! It's gorgeous from the top. At the top, besides the lookout, there is a bar/restaurant, gift shop, theatre that shows a short movie about the native people of the land... more
Were "cruising" in late May. Weather was absolutely FANTASTIC/SUNNY/ WARM. We hiked up to the top and must say the view was FANTASTIC. We brought with us some adult refreshments in our insulated/iced back packs. The local brewery provided the beverages. All 12 of us sat atop Mt. Roberts for 3 hours. Our camera pics are outstanding. Just hope for... more
