So many beautiful flowers and lush greenery, all which began in the parking lot and extended all the way out onto the isthmus. Several of my favorite photos of our vacation to Alaska were taken at this shrine site -- mostly of lush green trees and vivid foliage, colorful flowers, a wonderful wooden stairway, the lovely stonework on the chapel,... more

One of many beautiful places to reflect on life and the beautiful landscapes. It is a retreat, however, and we felt very stiffled by the greating we received by the caretaker....please do not talk, this is a place of meditation. We are not Catholic, so maybe we missed the point. Lots of other great places to pull off the roads... more

The Shrine is a old stone church that is built at the end of a isthmus. During the summer the church has services on Sundays. It is also a popular wedding spot.
