We visited the Chimaera with our 3 boys (ages 8, 4 and 4) and we all thought it was worth the 30-minute trek up the mountain. The track is well marked and we had no problem, even in the dark (if you don't have your own flashlight, you can rent one at the start of the trail). The trail has... More

The dolmus from Olympos is about 45 minutes up switchbacks in the dark, and I heard from my fellow travelers that almost everyone got car sick. Grab a forward-facing seat if possible. Also make sure your pension loans you a flashlight with a fresh battery if you rely on them to organize your tour-- mine died half way down the... More

The Chimaera flames are an incredible concept, which is why it was worth the trip up to see them. They aren't terribly exciting though, and it is a bit of a hike to get there. Overall, worth spending an hour or two exploring (at night).

Note that chimaera tour is not an easy leisure tour. I booked this tour on a group with Olympos Orange Pension at TL25. It's basically a van pick-up/drop-off both ways. The climb was not as easy as I thought it would be, probably hundreds of steps along a dark pathway. Our driver handed us individually a penlight. This isn't advisable... More

Interesting place, very spiritual and different. I have never seen anything like it before. Be sure you have a flashlight with fresh batteries! I missed on the fresh battery concept and it made for a struggle down the hill in the pitch black.

About a 5 km hike to see this mystical fire. Just do it but make sure you wear good shoes and bring a flashlight! 3 TL entry fee.

These were really quite impressive, but we didn't realise we would have to pay extra for this

A lot of the guidebooks suggest that you do this at dusk & take a flashlight. No thanks. It is a forty-five minute slug up rough, uneven slippery stone steps & paths with some nice close drop-offs into the forest valley below. It was a workout & not something I would want to attempt – up or down – in... More
