Kindos is an ancient city, about 35 kilometres distance from Datca and at the end of the peninsula of the same name. The road from Datca is paved and reasonably maintained, making it suitable for all vehicles. The road for Knidos starts in Datca, to the right of the main highway and at the beginning of the town boundaries. Scenery... More

Two harbours - one military and one commercial - dating from Roman times. Large area where you can wander freely looking at the way ancient buildings were laid out. Beautiful sea. Not crowded.

Knidos is off the beaten track but it offers a spectacular visit. Ruins are in a very large area. It's true that there is significant amount work needs to be done before it can come close to some othe sites but as it is you get the feeling how big this place was. What makes the place fabulous is the... More

This is an amazing Ancient Greek archaeological site. Its two amphiteatres suggests the scale of this ancient city. It's a real adventure to wander round the overgrown ruins (not the best maintained of sites, but that's sort of its charm) and the setting on the south-westernmost point of Turkey is magnificent. A must-see adventure for anyone visiting this part of... More

This historical site is located just on the corner of Eagean and Mediterrenean Seas. A must see.

Whilst the city itself consists mostly of low level remains of buildings that might interest only genuine archeology buffs rather than tourists more accustomed to the ruins of Rome, the natural setting is one of the most stunning you can imagine. It is also remote and untouched by modern development.

We had a half a page description of an unmapped hike before we began our 8km journey, that included a wild dog, two cows, seaside farmers, a nomad goat shepherd family, two ruins, plenty of laugh, and a destination.... For me, once a city girl:) it turned out to be one of the greatest pleasures of my lifetime.... During which... More

The agora, the theatre, an odeum, a temple of Dionysus, a temple of the Muses, a temple of Aphrodite all of them moved to famous museums of world but Knidos is still a great city. The city, architecture of city plan and view from lighthouse all awesome. Cons: Food prices over average. Enjoy the history on peninsula between Agean Sea... More

Don't go there after 9 in the morning or before 6 in the evening, as we did. In the furnace-like heat of a July day the crumbled remains of something antique and once glorious are tremendously hard to enjoy.
