We took a "26 Glacier Cruise" from Whittier. There is not much to do or see in the town but the cruise was incredible. Definitely recommend it. more
Phillips 26 Glacier Cruise went beyond my family's expectations, and I would recommend it highly to anyone. Our route includes College Fjord and we rarely miss this part of the trip unless there is heavy fog or bad ice conditions. On this cruise, College Fjord was filled with heavy smoke from the Denali Park forest fires. There are no residents or weather stations in this area so there is no way we know the conditions before arriving....

We drove across from Seward to do a glacier cruise out of Whittier. Watch your timing as the tunnel is one way and shared with trains so you could miss the boat if you do not leave plenty of time. Based on a tripadvisor recommendation, I booked the 26 Glacier Cruise as an afterthought when no rental cars were available. You can't get close to a glacier unless you venture out of Anchorage, and their Web site (...) made it easy to book a ride from downtown Anchorage to the Port of Whittier to board the boat.
