Well we drove in, and it seemed nice enough. The first problem is that the trails weren't marked well at all. Luckily, someone staying at one of the cabins pointed us in the right direction. We just returned from a 5 nite stay at Dead Horse Ranch state park. We stayed in a 28 foot toy hauler for our daughter's spring break. My advise is to get there early during busy times. We arrived Monday afternoon and even then there were only 4 spots left w/ electric. We got lucky that the spot we got... more
The Trout fishing pond within the park is one of Dead Horse Ranch's secrets. Stocked on a scheduled basis by AZ Game and Fish (http://www.gf.state.az.us/frames/whatsnew/idx_frep.htm)<--stocking schedule, everyone is sure to catch their limit. Spring and Summer months can bring in a crowd around the pond, Fall and Winter months offer mild days and a leaner crowd. more
