I have visited SAMREC on a few occasions and always recommend to my customers. It is very well run, educational and it is wonderful to see the creatures (particularly the penguins) excercising in their pool.

This African penguin rehabilitation center is definitely worth a stop if you're interested in wildlife. For R25 you get a guided tour of the facility and learn about African penguins and other wildlife in the Port Elizabeth area. If you're lucky you'll get to watch the volunteers feed the penguins!
While this rehabilitation center is not very big, it does a great job of educating visitors about the penguins in and around Port Elizabeth and the problems they currently face. The best time to view the penguins is in the afternoon when they get fed, it's a definite must while in Port Elizabeth!
It is very good when people try to repare what Man has damged.
They are doing a good job in helping the penguines.
They do holiday camps for kids where they have fun outside (wheather permiiting) and learn a lot about protecting the sea environment. Libby and her dedicated staff of volunteers are amazing.
Everyone can benefit from this education on sealife.
Wonderful work these very dedicated volunteers do. Also lovely coffee shop serving delicious fresh coffee.
