Hout bay is a little fishing village with a very interesting history and quirky personality. The beach is cute, but the main attraction for me is the market! They have a huge variety of goods for sale and a lot of it is very unique and interesting, which I love! Before you go I would recommend reading a quick history...

Quite large harbour home to a fishing flleet and tourist boats travelling to and from a busy seal colony. Good Restaurants and lovely quiet beach.
Hout Bay is a working fishing village which is unpretentious and can be quite busy.

This was not anything to write home about. The peer is overrun and the restaurants are not good.

Known as the republic by locals as is is set on the other side of the mountains in a quaint fishing village. Great restaurants and views, and a must see when in the cape.
We stopped in here after driving down Chapman's peak and had a late lunch and wine at Dunes on the front of the beach. Food was amazing and we had a great view of the bay. Highly recommend.
This used to be a very picturesque village, but not any more. It is still worth getting a boat to Seal island from the port, but avoid the company Drumbeat charter....
