There were only four exhibits on at the time of our visit but they were extensive and extremely interesting.

Local and international art on display in cool surroundings. The quality of the art work would be hard to match in any gallery anywhere, just that not all of the artists are a "Gaugin or Veermeer")

Recent exhibition of Peter Clarke is fantastic - an accomplished South African artist. During my visit large groups fom local school visited and were tutored on his work. Many of them copying his paintings or drawings or using them as subjects for their own interpretation of his work. It was great to see a lively place used to its capacity.... More

Good place to spend some time escpecially when a rainy day.

The gallery is great, and well worth a trip despite being pretty small. The setting is beautiful, and it adds to an already unbelievable city. It is worth including the South African National Gallery in the bundle when visiting the Company gardens, the SA Museum, the Holocaust Museum and the South African library. Sometimes the SA National Gallery have excellent exhibitions. The current exhibition of the work of Peter Clarke, a well respected Cape Town artist, is highly recommended.

I have often visited here usually with my children aged between 6 and 11. The exhibitions are only up for about 3 months, usually with two or three running concurrently. It is situated in the beautiful Companies Gardens nearby the South African Museum.
