Kirstenbosch is my favourite picnic spot in Cape Town. You can generally find a sheltered spot away from the wind. Especially lovely on balmy summers days, just lazing. I have just returned from a day at the Gardens. We took a picnic lunch and a bottle of SA sparkling wine and sat on one of the many lawns that are all over the gardens. Being Cape Town based wedding videographers, we get to shoot wedding in Kirstenbosch Gardens quite often. It is really a stunning setting. For anybody visiting Cape Town, this is a "must see" on their itinerary. . more

This is a MUST for anyone interested in botany or gardens. I can't wait to go back. It is well maintained with an amazing collection of protea and other South African and other plants. I was fascinated and would recommend it to anyone. A great place for a picnic, walk, or to browse the trees and plants. more
