An eclectic collection that presents a fascinating insight into the heritage of Oudtshoorn. It clearly illustrates the immense wealth that the ostrich industry generated. Many of the so-called feather palaces are still evident in the town.

There's lots to see in the museum, including several interesting shop fronts as well as lots of information regarding the history of ostrich farming and tales from local people, past and present.
A large number of rooms with reconstructions of rooms and shops from bygone times and a synagogue, all housed in this old school building. Displays are static rather than interactive but none the less interesting to those who want to learn about earlier times in this town.

Worth a visit if museums are your thing. Beautiful kind of furnishes they have here. It is very different from the museums you will find more towards the east of the country.
