This is a wonderful site that is set on a side street in the historic district of Tomar. The guide was wonderful.

The synagogue, dating from the mid 1400s, is well preserved and worth a visit.

As someone with Jewish connections, it is always interesting to find an ancient synogogue like this one. It was really interesting and unexpected in such an overwhelmingly catholic country.

Really enjoyed the visit to the museum, even though some artefacts had been removed for preservation. There is some welcomed on-going work on this important monument and it should look great when completed, especially with its settting in the old Jewish quarter (Juderia).

This is a small Museum, which was once the Jewish place of worship in Tomar. It has the reputation of being the the oldest surviving Synagogue in Portugal, having been built in the early 15th Century.
